How to Care for Your Eyes
Experts recommend seeing an optometrist/ophthalmologist regularly to monitor any changes in your eyesight and catch any health problems early. You can do basic things every day to keep your eyes healthy. Research has shown that exercise and eating right can help your eyes stay healthy.

Eye care habits that are good for your eyes

1 Regularly visit an eye doctor. These professionals are highly trained and specialize in the care of your eyes. These professionals can be either optometrists (eye doctors) or ophthalmologists. Keep your eyes healthy by having them checked regularly or if you have vision problems. Ask your eye doctor questions and learn more about your eyes. You will feel more in control over your health by learning more about your eyes and how to prevent eye disease. [2]You should see an eye doctor every five to ten years if you do not have vision problems. You should see an eye doctor every 2 years if you have no vision problems. You should see an eye doctor every 2 years if you do not have vision problems. 2 At the end of each day, take your contacts out. Avoid wearing contact lenses For more than 19 hours. Contact lenses worn for longer than 19 hours can result in permanent vision damage and extreme discomfort. [3]If your doctor has instructed you otherwise, don't sleep with your contacts. If your doctor has instructed you to, do not sleep with your contact lenses. If you're wearing contact lenses, don't swim unless your goggles are tight-fitting. It is better to use prescription glasses if you have to wear them. If you don't want to get shampoo or soap in your eyes, using contacts in the shower is okay. Follow the instructions provided by the manufacturer and your eye doctor about how to use the contact lenses. Handling contact lenses should be done with care. 3 Take off your eye makeup after the day is over. Before you go to bed, always take the time to clean your eyes. Don't put your eye makeup on before you go to bed. You can irritate if you put mascara or eyeliner on before bed. The pores around your eyes can become clogged if you sleep with your eye makeup on. This can cause styes (or hordeolum) to occur. An extreme sty may require antibiotics or need to be treated by a doctor. Use allergen-reducing eye drops sparingly. Although it may be helpful to use an allergy-reducing eyedrop during allergy season to help with itching and redness, daily use can worsen the problem. Although shade reduces UV and HEV exposure, your eyes are still exposed to UV rays from buildings and other structures. Don't look directly at the sun, even with UV sunglasses. Exposure to full sun can cause damage to the retina's sensitive parts. 6 Use goggles only when necessary. Avoid chemicals, power tools and other places with dangerous airborne particulates. Goggles can help protect your eyes against small or large objects that could strike you in the eye. 7 Get enough sleep. Eye fatigue can be caused by insufficient sleep. Eye fatigue can be characterized by eye irritation, eye dryness, excessive tears, blurred vision, double vision, light sensitivity, and difficulty focusing. Eye fatigue can be prevented by getting enough sleep each night. To prevent eye fatigue, adults must get at least 7-8 hours of sleep each night. 8 Regular exercise is a good way to prevent diabetes and other eye diseases. You can lower your risk of developing eye diseases such as macular degeneration and glaucoma by exercising at least 30 minutes weekly. 9 To reduce puffiness, place cucumber slices on your eyelids. To treat and prevent eye problems, gently press cold cucumber slices against the eyes for at least 10-15 minutes before you go to bed at night. Eyelid and under-eye puffiness[14]Applying green tea bags to the eyes may help reduce puffiness. Place the tea bag in cold water for about 5-10 minutes. The tea's tannins should reduce inflammation.
